  • (The other day, my nine year old son wanted to know why we were at war...My husband looked at our son and then looked at me. My husband and I were in the Army during the Gulf War and we would be honored to serve and defend our Country again today. I knew that my husband would give him a good explanation. My husband thought for a few minutes and then told my son to go stand in our front living room window.

He said "Son, stand there and tell me what you see?"

"I see trees and cars and our neighbor's houses." he replied.

"OK, now I want you to pretend that our house and our yard is the United States of America and you are President Bush."

Our son giggled and said "OK."

"Now son, I want you to look out the window and pretend that every house and yard on this block is a different country" my husband said.

    "OK Dad, I'm pretending."

"Now I want you to stand there and look out the window and pretend you see Saddam come out of his house with his wife, he has her by the hair and is hitting her. You see her bleeding and crying. He hits her in the face, he throws her on the ground, then he starts to kick her to death. Their children run out and are afraid to stop him, they are screaming and crying, they are watching this but do nothing because they are kids and they are afraid of their father. You see all of this, son....what do you do?"

    "Dad?"

     "What do you do son?"

     "I'd call the police, Dad."

"OK. Pretend that the police are the United Nations. They take your call. They listen to what you know and saw but they refuse to help. What do you do then son?"

"Dad.......... but the police are supposed to help!" my son starts to whine.

"They don't want to son, because they say that it is not their place or your place to get involved and that you should stay out of it," my husband says.

"But Dad...he killed her!!" my son exclaims.

"I know he did...but the police tell you to stay out of it. Now I want you to look out that window and pretend you see our neighbor who you're pretending is Saddam turn around and do the same thing to his children."

    "Daddy...he kills them?"

"Yes son, he does. What do you do?"

"Well, if the police don't want to help, I will go and ask my next door neighbor to help me stop him." our son says.

"Son, our next door neighbor sees what is happening and refuses to get involved as well. He refuses to open the door and help you stop him," my husband says.

"But Dad, I NEED help!!! I can't stop him by myself!!"

    "WHAT DO YOU DO SON?"

    Our son starts to cry.

"OK, no one wants to help you, the man across the street saw you ask for help and saw that no one would help you stop him. He stands taller and puffs out his chest. Guess what he does next son?"

    "What Daddy?"

"He walks across the street to the old ladies house and breaks down her door and drags her out, steals all her stuff and sets her house on fire and then...he kills her. He turns around and sees you standing in the window and laughs at you.

    WHAT DO YOU DO?"

     "Daddy..."

"WHAT DO YOU DO?" Our son is crying and he looks down and he whispers, "I'd close the blinds, Daddy."

My husband looks at our son with tears in his eyes and asks him. "Why?"

"Because Daddy.....the police are supposed to help people who needs them...and they won't help.... You always say that neighbors are supposed to HELP neighbors, but they won't help either...they won't help me stop him...I'm afraid....I can't do it by myself Daddy.....I can't look out my window and just watch him do all these terrible things and...and.....do nothing...so....I'm just going to close the blinds.... so I can't see what he's doing........and I'm going to pretend that it is not happening."

     I start to cry.

My husband looks at our nine year old son standing in the window, looking pitiful and ashamed at his answers to my husband's questions and he says... "Son"

"Yes, Daddy." "Open the blinds because that man.... he's at your front door... "WHAT DO YOU DO?"

My son looks at his father, anger and defiance in his eyes. He balls up his tiny fists and looks his father square in the eyes, without hesitation he says: "I DEFEND MY FAMILY DAD!! I'M NOT GONNA LET HIM HURT MOMMY OR MY SISTER, DAD!!! I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM, DAD, I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM!!!!!"

I see a tear roll down my husband's cheek and he grabs our son to his chest and hugs him tight, and says... "It's too late to fight him, he's too strong and he's already at YOUR front door son.....you should have stopped him BEFORE he killed his wife, and his children and the old lady across the way. You have to do what's right, even if you have to do it alone, before its too late." My husband whispers.

THAT scenario I just gave you is WHY we are at war with Iraq. When good men stand by and let evil happen, son, THAT is the greatest atrocities in the world.

"YOU MUST NEVER BE AFRAID TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT! EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!"

BE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!

    BE PROUD OF OUR TROOPS!!

    SUPPORT THEM!!!

SUPPORT AMERICA SO THAT IN THE FUTURE OUR CHILDREN WILL NEVER HAVE TO CLOSE THEIR BLINDS..."

This should be printed in every newspaper and posted in every school in America. )

The above was in an email i was sent.  This is why people who say "we shouldn't be involved" or "it's not our place" really piss me off.  As an occupant of this country, it *IS* your place to support and/or help the victims and/or above stated troops.  If some bully came and was torturing *your* friends i'll bet you won't be saying "its not my place, i shouldn't get involved" then.  If you do choose to walk away from said friends and do nothing, then you're nothing short of a spineless backstabbing piece of shit that deserves to be the one tortured instead of the one watching!! Heaven forbid any country to step up and gather friends to help another country in need . . .

  • sooooo.....yesterday was my bday! hahaha im 18 and I.D. has become a very handy tool

WARNING: SKIP TO NEXT POST IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ RANTING

once again the bowling team took a trip, bitchy girls as usual. honestly i dont even think they're a team. seriously! its just a collage of talent that lost because they cant cooperate and get along enough to support each other instead of backstabbing all the time!! they're constantly spreading rumors, they change sides like they do their shirts. in fact the only time they *act* like a team is when they're in uniform. and then when they do bad each girl takes it out on everyone else but herself. (with the exception of sylvia and ashley)

all about drama, thats it! "he said, she said, they did this, that, the other" thats all they talk about. the conversations are never about anything of real intelligence. not about college or current world events, not even about whats happening locally or plans for the future etc. or school or w/e, something *smart*!!. no, instead its always what everyone else did and what these girls can do to screw them over.

then whenever its *not* about drama (heaven forbid!) they're whining about everything! ("i'm hungry/cold/hot/bored/thirsty, my feet/stomach/nose/head/hands/wrists hurt, i dont want to eat chinese/burgerking/here/there/anywhere, i want to do this/that/something else, i dont want to ...(etc.)) OMG!! last time i checked i didnt *think* u were chicken-wuss 3rd graders!!! fucking GROW UP PLEASE!! be happy ur not on the streets fending for food/clothing/shelter every minute of ur life!!!

and hey omg!! i dont care. but because i dont care doesnt give *any1* any right to get pissy at me for it. ok, so i can't see what's going on at the tournaments. this does *NOT* mean i need to give u my 100% undivided attention to something i can't SEE! so fuck u if u dont like that i read/sleep/play tetris when i'm not bowling. i'm *there*! that's "team support" enough. honestly very few of us were giving "team support" genuine effort.

  • spokes tagged me!!

Ground Rules: The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits/fact of yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a xanga entry about their 5 habits/facts as well as state this rule clearly. In the end you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "You are tagged" in their xanga and tell them to read yours.

    1. i usually always know what time it is accurately within the half hour

    2. i'm obsessed about passenger railroad trains and have always wanted a motorcyle

    3. things that suddenly pop into my mind that arent usually there foretell of near future events involving them (for example i think about a spider and then sure enough with in the next 2 days a spider shows up in the house that is almost immaculate as far as clean for the average house goes)

    4.  the most uselessly simple trinkets amuse me for hours on end (tetris for instance) and im never too full to eat

    5. i lived in grand forks, north dakota when it wend thru a winter of constant 6' snow on the ground and a flood the following spring that only occured every 500 yrs such was its massive destruction scale. so meanwhile i went to may-school for a month on the air force base while cleanup was taking place
(5 1/2. (lol i made 5 1/2 up) we were jsut talking about the last time we've had a real game of tag when this comes up)

TAG!!: rurouni_teeter, wutuwaitn4, legend_killerRKO, preciouschild, and selfish_penguin----UR IT!!! read the above ground rules for ur mission instructions =)

  • is this ironic or what?? my grampa sent this to me in an email . . . no more pepsi for me! serves them right!!

DON'T BUY PEPSI IN THE NEW CAN!
Don't  buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can
coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building, and the
         Pledge of Allegiance on them.
However, Pepsi  left out two little words on the pledge,

                                  "Under God."

Pepsi said they didn't want to offend anyone.
In that case, we don't want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office, either!
So if we don't buy any Pepsi product, they will not be offended
when they don't receive our money that has the words
"In God We Trust" on it.

HOW FAST CAN YOU FORWARD THIS ONE?

yea um totally not cool. if they're *honestly* being patriotic, they need to have the *whole* Pledge that this country was raised on and that its soldiers fight with its principles in mind. did pepsi ever stop to think of the people they would offend by *omitting* those words?? who are they to decide that what will and will not appear in the Pledge?!

honestly, thats like omitting 2 stars from the flag because they wouldn't want to offend the U.S. territories who dont have stars on the Flag to represent them as well. it doesnt make sense! without those 2 stars the Flag just isnt complete, it just isnt *the* Flag of the United States of America. who is anyone to omit those two stars??

i dont really hear particularly outraged remarks about "under God" being in the Pledge of Alliegence. only those who are looking for political attention are making any kind of remarks at all about it, using the dreaded cliche "its not policially correct" --- gag me please!

to those sissy-wimps who are offended, oh my gosh suck it up please!! you don't hear the rest of us complaining about your *lack* of patriotic expression. just dont use it to insult our intelligence by warping the wording of the Pledge and then try to pass it off as the real thing. that's tweaking what really happened in history and how it came to be today simply to fit what you unpatriotic posers *wanted* to have happened . . .

    simply disgusting!!

  • Inside the garden of blossomed sorrows

    Away from shadowed, tempting voices

Here they find the young lies blind,

    Corrupted by façades and labels

    Trapped inside the metal cradles

    Surrounded by flesh, vanity abound

Only then shall true nature resound

Away from the hills and skies of home

Farther the sights and sounds well known

Beginning anew to erase the past

Often though the memoirs still last

    Reunite the earth with wind,

    Souls with no wings shan’t crumble within;

    Banish wrathful tides of hell,

    Where vanquished souls of ill shall quell;

Save them not a cursed fate,

For those of which time’s yet to place

So say if I see you ne’er

In this place or the next,

    Recall the path that brought us here;

Wreak not the havoc to vex

so yesterday i was walking downtown, and there was a Thomas Kinkade Signature Collection shop. So i pop in just to kill time, (this guy is a painter by profession, and a killer one at that!!) and there was this quote on the wall (no name by it):

“If tears could build a Stairway,

                        And memories a Lane,

I’d walk right up to Heaven,

                       And bring you down Again.”

      ~Unknown

so, i thought i'd share it simply because it's inspiring to those who aspire at poetry or pretty little things of the sort . . .

  • hey guys, pass this one around!! its a giant b-day calendar thats been circulating around in email to see if we can find people to fill a bday for every day of the year.

i've deleted all the days that dont have names to make the list shorter and less tedious to scroll thru, so if ur day isnt there, simply add it along with ur first name and city/state and then copy the entire text in green and post it on ur xanga site

    > > This will be our big 2005 E-mail to pass.  Give it a go! 365 Birthdays. This is kind of cool! Out of all of  the billions of people who live in the world, there has got to be somebody born on each date of the year. We are going to try to accomplish the task of seeing if we can fill the calendar up with a birthday on every day of the year.

Add your name, NO LAST names, and your city/state next to your birth date to the list below. Then send this list to all of your friends, plus the person who sent it to you! Let's see if we can do it! Remember, COPYING and PASTING this to a NEW E-mail will keep it clean and make it easier to read than just forwarding it. If someone has already put their name in the slot of your birthday, please just add your name beside it, and DO NOT DELETE THAT PERSON'S NAME!

    Confirmed at: http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/osamahanged.asp

Origins: There are few headlines that would grab the attention of more computer users around the world than "Osama bin Laden Captured," and that's exactly what whoever created this lure was counting on to snare unsuspecting victims who use Microsoft platforms.

"Osama bin Laden Captured" isn't a virus in itself; it's the text of a message that includes a link to a file called EXPLOIT.EXE. When a message recipient clicks on this link to view what he thinks are pictures of Osama bin Laden's capture, he can end up downloading an executable Trojan known as Backdoor-AZU, BKDR_LARSLP.A, Download.Trojan, TrojanProxy.Win32.Small.b,or Win32.Slarp. Clicking the embedded link in the "Osama bin Laden Captured" message auto-executes a file called "EXPLOIT.EXE," which exploits a known security hole to download the Trojan. According to McAfee Security:

The Trojan opens a random port on the victim's machine. It sends the Port information to a webpage at IP address 66.139.77.145. The Trojan listens on the open port for instructions and redirects traffic to other IP addresses. Spammers and hackers can take advantage of compromised systems by using the infected computer as a middleman, allowing them to pass information through it and remain anonymous"
